This gallery provides us with the largest variety of images in our catalogue. Animals can be large or small, appearances in the field may be infrequent and/or fleeting, movements are often unpredictable; so when the commitment of time spent in observing and anticipating behavior pays off with what we consider a website-worthy image, it is particularly satisfying. Needless to say, many of the images from Yellowstone National Park were taken in the cold and snow. It is amazing to us that when we are behind our cameras and waiting and watching these animals, rarely do we feel the cold, so absorbed are we in the process of documenting their behaviors.
Mammals
Early morning light hit these two bison highlighting the snow on their insulating fur and making a sweet portrait of mother and child. During the winter months the bison have to dig their way down through the snow to find grass underneath.
This photo is a shot taken in Yellowstone, June of 2013. As a rookie photographer this image was thrilling to see when reviewing images at the end of a very long day. The bull and cow bison were clearly quite interested in one another!
